19 REFLECTIONS (6-5-2034
19- (6-5-2023)
Good Afternoon Family,
I have been reading through the war chapters in the latter end of the the book of Alma this week. It amazes me how much application to our lives are in these sections of the Book of Mormon. What has stood out most to me this week is how willing the Lord is to bless us in our striving obedience, and how much harder we can make it on ourselves when we try to go at life on our own, without His guiding influence. This same theme ran through our Come Follow Me this week as we were learning about the Sacrament and Jesus implementing this ordinance into His church.
By perfect design our Heavenly Father has built into His plan for us a weekly time to reflect on how we are progressing as individuals in being obedient to His commandments and aligning our will with His. It is in these quiet moments of self reflection that the seeds of needed change flood into our minds and hearts by the power of the Holy Ghost. As we prove ourselves obedient and earnestly seek the companionship of the Holy Ghost these seeds sprout into clear ideas, goals, and actions leading us to become more Christlike in our nature.
This week my invitation to each of us is to take a quiet moment to reflect. Ask yourself when it is that you feel the Holy Ghost’s presence most in your life? Are we taking time each day, and with heart felt sincerity, to talk with our Heavenly Father? Expressing our gratitude and love to him, and for his guiding influence in ALL that fills our day will lead each of us to have better days! Earnest prayer will bring a spirit of humility and reverence, both necessary if we are to hear the whisperings of the Holy Ghost.
Pray for a desire and help in understanding how to implement the power of the scriptures and words of the prophets into your daily life, and for meaningful and powerful experiences in your study. Experiences that will keep you coming back to the scriptures because of the strength and understanding you receive there. He can and will bless us with all of this and more if we seek for it.
Let him know the love you have for him by the TIME you devote to him in your personal scriptures study and prayer. Let Him know that you Want and NEED his greatest gifts, His Son, and the Companionship of the Holy Ghost. How can we go through life without him? Why would we want to? Let us follow our prophets counsel and give the Lord a fair share of our time each day. The Spirit will teach us what this fair amount looks like. Let us CHOOSE to listen!
I love each one of you! I hope you have a wonderful week,
