 24 Learning in the Lord's Way  7/10/23

Hello Family,


As I was reading my book by President Ballard this week on the cruise the following scripture and teaching resonated with me. Something I can work on in my own life, and when trying to help others. 


Doctrine and Covenants 9:7-8

“Behold, you have not understood; you have supposed that I would give it unto you, when you took no thought save it was to ask me.

But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right.”


We have been conditioned in the world we live to often expect instant gratification. We want answers or solutions to our problems or concerns now. We want to apply the perceived needed fix to others problems. We want our own problems to go away quickly. President Ballard spoke about seeking the Lord’s way of learning. Not just for ourselves but for those we love. And the Lord’s way is “you” go put in the spiritual work. “You” do all you can in “your” power to learn and study out the solution. And then after “you” do this, take it to the Lord and pray for conformation of what you have learned, reasoned, or applied. His way of learning is to send the Holy Ghost to confirm truth to each of us.

The key is when we do do the work, our own personal faith increases and our understanding of how the Holy Ghost operates in our lives is better understood.

Consider how we can each apply the Lord’s pattern of learning more effectively in our lives and stewardships?

 Hello Family, Happy New Year! It is New Year’s Eve, and we are gathered all together in Ogden, Utah. What a treat to be all together! As Lainey would say, “I love you guys!” This weekend I have watched each of you set time aside to plan and to make New Year’s Resolutions, pondering on things that you would like to add or improve in your life. I love that! A life without purpose is a life of complacency. Goals put us in a place to act, and to do. You each know who you are and what your purpose is, and this brings so much joy to Mama and I. This purpose is innate in each one of us, and as we listen to, and follow the Spirit we will continue to strive to become better.  45 (12-4-2023) I Need Thee Every Hour Dear Family, This scripture has stayed with me over the past couple of weeks, and has helped me several times. The message has gained greater meaning for me as I try to apply it. I thought this week I would share a few examples of its application in my own life,    and invite you to consider ways to apply it in yours. 2 Nephi 9:39    Remember, to be carnally-minded is death, and to be spiritually-minded is life eternal.
