41- Nov 6, 2023 The Temple

Hello Family,

Over this past few weeks, I have found some things getting in the way of my regular temple attendance. They can be seen as legitimate obstacles, like sickness, or important things for work that needed to happen in a timely way, but regardless they are “things” getting in the way of my regularly pattern of temple attendance.

It made me realized again how busy life is, how keeping to a fixed schedule is never as easy as it looks on paper. But it also made me realize that it is my schedule, my priorities, and my commitment that keep me going or not going to the temple regularly. And these past few weeks I have missed the focus, direction, and comfort I find there.

My life, like all of yours, feels crazy at times. It is one of those times for me right now. I feel added pressures and stress at work with expansion, needed growth, completing construction on the new building, hiring, and a whole host of other things. Trying to find enough time to do everything I need to do, while also finding time to do everything I must do,  leave me sometimes feeling anxious. As I think about each one of you and your current situations I can things that are going on in your lives that are causing this same kind of stress or anxiety. We wish certain things were happening or not happening for us right now. If this could be different, or better, or ….. the list goes on in our minds. I love this counsel given by our prophet back in October last year. President Nelson closed conference with the message: Focus on the Temple He said, “Let us never lose sight of what the Lord is doing for us now.”

In the middle of all the chaos, stress, or current struggle, He is blessing us right now! I think this is one of the greatest blessing of the temple for me. It slows “my life” down, allows me to see the big picture. It gives me specific and needed time to focus on my Savior. I see His hand blessing me more clearly when I am focused on Him, in His house. I feel the calm in my personal storm, and power, insight, and patience to move back out into the world with renewed confidence that “I got this”.

President Nelson went went on to say, “Our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, stand ready to help you. I urge you to increase your efforts to seek Their help.”

My invitation for the week is to seek for His help in His House. And do it regularly. Make a goal, set a pattern, place it as our top priority, and seek His help. Here is the prophet’s promise, “I promise that increased time in the temple will bless your life in ways nothing else can.”

I love each one of you. I want you to know how much I love the temple. I love being there with your mama. Our sealing as a couple, and as a family bring the greatest joys into my life, and the greatest hopes for an eternal life to come. A life that requires my most earnest and sincere attention and focus now!

I love you and hope you all have a wonderful week.

Love,

Dad
