46 (12-18-23) Adoring the Savior

 46 (12-18-23) Adoring the Savior

Come, Let us Adore Him

 While we were watching the recent First Presidency Christmas Devotional the prophet closed with this familiar Christmas lyric. “Come, Let us adore Him”Mama made the comment at the time that she liked that thought, to adore Jesus Christ. I’ve given it some more thought since then.

I liked this explanation when differentiating between loving someone vs adoring someone. “While both words mean "to honor and admire profoundly and respectfully," adore implies love and stresses the notion of an individual and personal attachment.”

While we love the Savior and recognize His Atoning Sacrifice, we must take that love a step further and adore Him. We do this by repenting, by creating that “personal attachment” and essential and individual attachment to Him. Following the prophet’s counsel to repent daily is showing the Savior that we indeed adore Him. So my invitation to all of us is to draw a little closer to Him by evaluating our lives and sacrificing with a broken heart and contrite spirit our sins that keep us from coming closer to Him.

I love President Nelson’s message: “I pray that you will feel the deep, eternal love our Savior has for you personally. Jesus Christ has known you since the premortal realm. He knows and sees you now. He sees your joys and your sorrows. He has experienced each of them.”

To adore Him reminds me of this Sacramental Hymn

Reverently and Meekly Now

1. Rev'rently and meekly now,
Let thy head most humbly bow.
Think of me, thou ransomed one;
Think what I for thee have done.
With my blood that dripped like rain,
Sweat in agony of pain,
With my body on the tree
I have ransomed even thee.

2. In this bread now blest for thee,
Emblem of my body see;
In this water or this wine,
Emblem of my blood divine.
Oh, remember what was done
That the sinner might be won.
On the cross of Calvary
I have suffered death for thee.

3. Bid thine heart all strife to cease;
With thy brethren be at peace.
Oh, forgive as thou wouldst be
E'en forgiven now by me.
In the solemn faith of prayer
Cast upon me all thy care,
And my Spirit's grace shall be
Like a fountain unto thee.

4. At the throne I intercede;
For thee ever do I plead.
I have loved thee as thy friend,
With a love that cannot end.
Be obedient, I implore,
Prayerful, watchful evermore,
And be constant unto me,
That thy Savior I may be.

His hand is outstretched to each one of us. Let’s not let a day go by that we don’t show our love and adoration for Him by reaching for His hand in return. I love each one of you so much. Miles we are so proud of you and are excited about all the friends you are reaching and sharing this message with. Keep working hard. To the rest of you, we can’t wait to have you home for Christmas. We are so excited! Love,

Dad
