49- 1/15/24 Book of Mormon and Covenants

 49- 1/15/24

Good Morning Family,

A short thought this morning ….

In our Come Follow Me last night, I shared with the family that one of my study goals in studying the Book of Mormon this year is to look for ways in which covenants strengthened the people of the Book of Mormon.

As I’ve studied this week, a thought that has stuck with me is that “remembering” plays such an integral part of our “keeping” covenants with God?

We keep our covenants when we choose to be obedient to the promises we have made with our Heavenly Father. Sometimes we find ourselves being obedient in autopilot because that’s just what we have become accustomed  to do. But the importance of “remembering why” we choose to act in obedience is where real power lies.

Here is an invitation for all of us:

When you find yourself acting in obedience in some way this week… it may be paying tithing, doing something for your calling, reading your scriptures for the day, or saying your personal prayers, try to correlate that act of obedience to a specific covenant you have made with God. Then “remember” or let your thoughts center on the Savior and how that obedient act connects you to Him in some way.

For me this has done two things. First it has made me feel a stronger sense of gratitude for the Savior, and secondly it has made me reflect more on my relationship with Jesus Christ.

To “always Remember Him” was intentionally designed in Heavenly Father’s plan of covenants with His children. The doctrine of Jesus Christ leads each one of us to have the Holy Ghost with us to assist in this very act of “remembering”.  Real strength, the power of godliness, rests in remembering Jesus Christ in all that we do. Drawing on the power of His atonement, His enabling power, to strengthen EVERY aspect of our lives.

I know that God’s all encompassing power is accessible to all who keep their covenants with Him. When we find ourselves acting in autopilot, let us shift gears to “remembering” Him more in our obedience. As we do, we will feel a greater sense of His strengthening power in our lives to follow Him.

I love each of you like crazy! Have a wonderful week. Love,

Dad
