58 (3-18-24) Apostles and Prophets
Hello Family,
This has been a special past weekend. Not only did we have Emma home, but we also had the treat of having Elder Cook at our Stake Conference. Mama was able to go to a leadership session with him and then our general session on Sunday. Just to be in the midst of an apostle of Jesus Christ is such a blessing for us. Elder Cook gave a powerful and sure testimony of the Savior, and the Holy Ghost witnessed to my heart again that this work is true. We are led by a living prophet today and Jesus Christ stands at the head of His church, actively directing its affairs. I am grateful for these types of experiences. Do all you can to never miss one of these opportunities as they present themselves throughout your lives. They strengthen testimony!
I will keep this short this week. Two specific invitations:
Invitation #1 - This week we are studying 2Nephi 31-33. Please take the time to read and study these chapters. They are some of the most powerful chapters of the Book of Mormon. They are the last words of the Nephi, and you get a strong sense of what is really important to him to teach his posterity and all of us before he dies. He focuses on the necessity to follow the “doctrine of Christ”, and the simple but profound truth that personal revelation through the whisperings of the Holy Ghost is vital in order for us to survive and endure to the end. Write down the promptings you receive as you study these three chapters.
Invitation #2 - Listen to the prophets challenge and promise given in his message to the Relief Society this past Sunday. He gave three specific invitations with an associated promise.
- Feast upon the Scriptures
- Allow your temple worship to serve as a recalibration (I love this, and haven’t heard him use that word before in relation to temple worship. But that is exactly what can happen as we approach the temple with a contrite spirit. We can clearly identify what in our life needs to be “tweaked” or recalibrated.
- Pray daily to be placed in the right spot to lift or provide “Relief” to another.
I just loved these invitations. And while he was speaking to the Relief Society Sisters, no doubt we all can benefit from this prophetic counsel.
I love you all so much and hope you have a wonderful week.
Love, Dad
