60- (4-1-24) Easter

 60- (4-1-24) Easter

Mon, Apr 1 at 12:12 PM

Easter was a really nice day, but we missed having all of you with us! That being said, it was so good to hear how you were spending your time this weekend.

Miles takes the cake with being able to have a baptism of one of his friends on Saturday. We just loved those pictures Miles, all dressed in white… that will be an Easter you will never forget.

And Sadie, Seth, and Emma being together makes it a little easier on our parent hearts while being away from you. We are so grateful that you have the “eyes” to see those who need to feel loved and included. Emma shared with us what Gale told her on the way home. Something like, “you guys make my life a little happier”. We are so proud of you kids and who you are.

It seems like Easter Sunday often falls on Conference weekend, and it was really nice to have the opportunity to take the Sacrament on Easter Day yesterday. I love thinking about the Savior implementing and teaching the apostles the meaning of this sacred ordinance that last week\. What must have been going through His heart and mind at that time?

I’m very grateful for the knowledge and testimony I have of the role Jesus Christ plays in our lives. I came across the following quote from my personal study this week and it really led me to think more about the difference between salvation and exaltation.

The central message of the Book of Mormon is to restore the true knowledge of the essential role of Jesus Christ in the salvation and exaltation of mankind.”

The thoughts that first came to me were the amazingly clear teachings of President Oakes at our last General Conference. In reference to the different degrees of glory, and the “many mansions” prepared for His children President Oakes taught, “The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints focuses on these because the purpose of this restored Church is to prepare God’s children for salvation in the celestial glory and, more particularly, for exaltation in its highest degree.”

Listen to the words of Jesus Christ through his prophet Joseph Smith given to us in the 88th section of the Doctrine and Covenants. “And they who are not sanctified through the law which I have given unto you, even the law of Christ, must inherit another kingdom, even that of a terrestrial kingdom, or that of a telestial kingdom.”

The Book of Mormon teaches most clearly the law of Christ! It teaches us what it is that we should do, and how to do it by following the example and teaching of the Savior. Applying His doctrine into our lives, and sharing this message with all that we can becomes our focus.

We know that the Law will be given to all. All will have the opportunity to accept and follow it. Salvation will be had by nearly all who come to this Earth, but exaltation will come only to those who choose to follow Him according to His divine law.

Now when I reread the above quote, “The central message of the Book of Mormon is to restore the true knowledge of the essential role of Jesus Christ in the salvation and exaltation of mankind”, I feel so much appreciation and gratitude for the Book of Mormon. It gives me a greater sense of the need to daily study, ponder, and apply its teachings, and to share it every opportunity I get.

My invitation to you is before this weekends conference, study again President Oakes and President Nelson’s talks about the Celestial Kingdom and Thinking Celestial. Prophets are speaking, sending a clear message, and we need to be listening!

Love you so much,

Dad
