63 (4-22-24) Influence of Family

 Hello Family,

The weeks keep flying by. We have GG and Opah with us this week and that has been fun. It makes you stop and think how important family connections are. I know you have heard me talk about how influential Grandpa Miller's decision to baptized as a young boy  was, and how that single event has effected the entire Miller family forever forward. The same is true for GG and Opah and that side of the family. If they had made different choices along the way, and had not remained true and faithful to their covenants, our family would not be the same. We would not know the things we know. This past week in Come Follow Me we studied a perfect example of this with Enos and the influence of his family.  Enos would soon find himself on his own with his father Jacob about to pass away, left to make important choices away from his family. Your mama and I feel very much like that as you kids grow up and leave the house. You have always had your own testimonies, and now with several of you being on your own, it is solely up to you to feed those testimonies. As you mature and move on in your lives it is your own personal choices that will govern how you raise your children.
Enos said that he continued to hear the words of his father ( I'm sure his mother as well) that led him to his knees searching for direction in his life. Searching for forgiveness and a sense of worthiness to carry out his responsibilities that lie ahead. He had been taught by his father Jacob, his Uncle Nephi, and his Grandfather Lehi, and believed their words. Because of those teachings of Jesus Christ he remembered from his earlier years at home, he knew where to look to receive not only a remission of his sins, but direction from the Holy Ghost of how to "go to" and move forward in his life.
I am so thankful for parents that taught me about Jesus Christ. I'm thankful for opportunities to build my own faith and testimony as your mama and I have done our best to raise our family and to teach you children about the Savior. My invitation to all of you, and my greatest hope, is that you will continue the chain of teaching and testifying of Him. That with your spouses and children you will "talk of Christ, rejoice in Christ, preach of Christ... that your children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." (2Nephi 25:26). Make your testimonies of the Savior the top priority in your lives. The blessings of this enduring chain will be exactly what He has promised them to be, an Eternal Family!

I love you all so much and can't tell you enough how grateful I am for such amazing children! Your testimonies strengthen mine!

Love,

Dad
