68- 5/27/24 Book of Mormon

68- 5/27/24 Here we are at the end of May already. I know the kids are super excited for Summer. We are all counting down the days for Elder Miller to come home! I was studying a talk from this past conference by President Pace the General Sunday School President -  It is Wisdom in the Lord That We Should Have the Book of Mormon I thought I would share a few highlights that I took away from his message that have strengthened my resolve to study the Book of Mormon everyday. Reading the Savior’s teachings in the scriptures helps us transform our homes into sanctuaries of faith and centers of gospel learning. It invites the Spirit into our homes.  When people stop heeding the words of the prophets they distance themselves from the Lord and His gospel Heeding means to pay attention to or take notice. Obviously we all believe in living prophets, and have a testimony that President Nelson is the Lord’s mouthpiece today. We listen to his inspired counsel, but do we “pay attenti...

67 5-20-24 Optimism

67 5-20-24 Hope you all are having a great start to your week. I thought I would share a short message based off a talk Elder Cook recently gave at Sadie’s school, Ensign College. One major takeaway from his talk is that : “We are to be positive and of good cheer. We emphasize our faith, not our fears. We rejoice in the Lord’s assurance that He will stand by us and give us guidance and direction.” And to live our lives “on the sunny side of the street”. I love that thought. Real life throws all sorts of wrenches in our mind painted pictures of ideal. You are all old enough to know that life doesn’t go exactly how you want it to all of the time. But how we approach and engage each scenario or moment in our lives is a choice. A choice to tackle them head on with a “glass half full” approach vs the pessimistic “glass half empty” mentality.  Invitation: Think of someone in your life who “lives on the sunny side of the street”. Someone who is “positive and of good cheer”. Make it ...

66 (5-13-24) Less about me and power of words

66 (5-13-24) Less about me and power of words Hello Family, This week in my personal study I reviewed Elder Rasband’s talk from this past conference: Words Matter. I love this talk. I think everyone can benefit from not only choosing our words more carefully and thoughtfully, but finding more ways that we can lift and build others by offering words of praise and love. What we say and how we say it very often shapes how we feel and act with others. I like this quote from Elder Rasband, “Words set a tone. They voice our thoughts, feelings, and experiences, for good or bad. Unfortunately, words can be thoughtless, hasty, and hurtful. Once said, we cannot take them back. They can wound, punish, cut down, and even lead to destructive actions. They can weigh heavily on us. On the other hand, words can celebrate victory, be hopeful and encouraging. They can prompt us to rethink, reboot, and redirect our course. Words can open our minds to truth.” Invitation: In all our relationships, esp...

65 (5-6-24) Valiancy

65 (5-6-24) Hello Family, Hope you have all had a great start to your week. Lots of change in the works, Miles is headed back to Aruba, Sadie is starting her new job with Seth taking on new responsibilities at work. Emma is settling in for a summer at home while navigating being so far away from Noah, and Avery is counting down    all her “lasts” before heading to Brazil. Exciting times for everyone. Mama and I are praying or each one of you. I’ve been studying Elder Christofferson’s last Conference address “The Testimony of Jesus”. He dovetailed his remarks into President Oaks’ October23 address on the different degrees of glory. He taught that the difference in what degree of glory we will inherit has everything to do with how valiant we are in our own personal testimony of the Savior. (D&C 76) Invitation for the week: In your personal study take time to read and study Elder Christofferson’s talk.   1) - What does being valiant look like in your day to ...
