67 5-20-24 Optimism

 67 5-20-24

Hope you all are having a great start to your week. I thought I would share a short message based off a talk Elder Cook recently gave at Sadie’s school, Ensign College.

One major takeaway from his talk is that : “We are to be positive and of good cheer. We emphasize our faith, not our fears. We rejoice in the Lord’s assurance that He will stand by us and give us guidance and direction.” And to live our lives “on the sunny side of the street”. I love that thought.

Real life throws all sorts of wrenches in our mind painted pictures of ideal. You are all old enough to know that life doesn’t go exactly how you want it to all of the time. But how we approach and engage each scenario or moment in our lives is a choice. A choice to tackle them head on with a “glass half full” approach vs the pessimistic “glass half empty” mentality.

Invitation: Think of someone in your life who “lives on the sunny side of the street”. Someone who is “positive and of good cheer”. Make it your goal to emulate this Christlike attribute you see in them. Look for ways is your everyday life that you can approach with a greater sense of gratitude, humility, and optimism.
