111 -4/7/25 General Conference

 111- Another Conference

It was an awesome weekend! We missed you Sadie and Seth, but can’t wait to be together soon.

I was thinking this week about what it would be like if we didn’t have General Conference. From the very beginning of the restoration the Lord has made clear that this is how He would regularly gather His apostles, and communicate with His disciples. This week we will be studying Doctrine and Covenants sections 30-36. Each of these revelations came after the saints had gathered together for conference, or shortly thereafter, which is a testament to how revelation can flow into our lives as we begin to implement what the Spirit is teach us through his servants.

I’m so thankful for the opportunity we have to be able to hear and focus on the words of living apostles and prophets and other church leaders. These words are scripture, words God would have us hear right now. I know that they are messages of hope, peace, and direction to all who make it a priority to listen and study these messages.

The Lord states His purpose for these conference messages. President Nelson reiterated what the Jesus Christ has been placing on his mind concerning in recent months concerning the Second Coming.  “And the Book of Mormon and the holy scriptures (which include the words of living prophets)are given of me for your instruction; and the power of my Spirit quickeneth all things.

Wherefore, be faithful, praying always, having your lamps trimmed and burning, and oil with you, that you may be ready at the coming of the Bridegroom—

For behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, that I come quickly. Even so. Amen. (D&C 33:16-18)

These conference messages are to instruct us, to teach us how to fill our lamps with oil and prepare us for the Savior’s return. How many messages from this conference referenced the ten virgins and this “oil”? I can think at least four.

Invitation: So my invitation this week is for us to each make a six month plan of how we will study these most recent conference addresses. What instruction will we take from them and focus on implementing into our lives?

I hope we each felt like, after this weekend, kneeling in prayer and expressing in gratitude  “we thank thee oh God for a prophet!”

Have a wonderful week!

Love,

Dad
