Enduring
Happy Monday! It’s going to be a beautiful week of Spring time weather this week. It has been so fun to all be together, and I try not to stop and think that it will have an end when Summer is over.
This next week our lessons in Relief Society and Elders Quorum will be based off of Sister Runia’s talk about repentance. This was a really great talk. My invitation this week is to read and study it in preparation for our Sunday lesson.
In the talk Sister Runia referenced one of my favorite scriptures from the New Testament. It’s found in Hebrews 12:2. Speaking of our Savior Jesus Christ the scripture reads “…for the joy that was set before him endured the cross…”
Ask yourself: What was the joy that was set before Him? Was it the end reward of obedience? Just like us, the Savior was promised all that His Father has.
Was it obedience out of love that He has for His Father?Just like us, He wanted to please His Heavenly Father, and found joy in doing so.
But the real joy that was set before Him was you and me. Every one of us, as individuals, and our ability to return to our heavenly home. He made the ultimate sacrifice, endured pain and agony beyond mortal comprehension, for you and me. We were the joy set before Him.
The example and strength we find in Jesus Christ will allow us to endure any struggle, trial, challenge, or heartache. The “joy set before us” is our faith and hope in Jesus Christ. He is our joy.
We can overcome, and become, all because of Him. I know this is true, and I love Him so much for it. So if you are ever feeling frustrated with yourself, wanting to do and be better, just remember He sees you where you are, and it brings Him great joy to be able to offer you what only He can offer, peach, forgiveness, and the ability to keep trusting and trying. So let us just always do that. Always trust, and never stop trying!
Love,
Dad
