5- 2/27/23 What think Ye of Christ

 5- Hello Family,

It was fun to get to talk to you all over the last little bit. It’s the very best part of our day.

These coughs have been frustrating for mama and I these past few weeks. It has made sleeping a little difficult. This week while laying in bed tossing, turning, and unable to sleep I was thinking of the question Jesus posed to the Pharisees during His ministry. What think ye of Christ? Related scriptures or talks from our prophet came to my mind and have been the source of my personal scripture study this week. This study has led me to think of not only what, but when, where, why, and how do I think of Christ.

What think ye of Christ?

I know He is the son of God. He is the the source of my hope, and gives complete purpose to my life. I would be lost without this knowledge of Him. Once a person has a testimony of who He really is, and a desire to follow Him, it becomes life changing in every sense. It reminds me of the story in John when early disciples stopped following Christ because they had a hard time accepting what He was teaching them, and the pull of the world had too great an influence on them. Jesus asking his apostles if they would leave Him too, drew this response from Peter, a response that summarizes perfectly how I fee. “Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go?” Where else, what or who else could provide such peace and purpose to our lives. Jesus Christ truly is the way and the life of the world.

When and where think ye of Christ?

We covenant each week to always remember Him. This begs the question, how are we doing in keeping this covenant? In light of my own personal response to this question, I begin to understand better our prophets plea to each of us for daily repentance. A time to refocus our daily efforts to honor and keep our covenants. As I make my temple service more frequent it is easier for me to remember Him. Daily prayer and scripture study is a must if we are to remember Him in the business of our daily routines.

Why think ye of Christ? Lots of reasons. Direction, peace, forgiveness, purpose and meaning, the list goes on and on.

How think ye of Christ? In the way we choose to live our lives. Our choices reflect the how. Our thoughts, and the intents of our hearts all lead to the how or how not in our discipleship. This reminds me of a talk President Nelson gave about Sabbath day worship a couple of years ago. He taught that our agency allows us to give a “sign to God” of our devotion and willingness to follow Him. He taught that whenever we have a question about something we should or shouldn’t do in any given situation, we can ask ourselves, what sign would this give to God in showing our love for Him. I really like that thought. It becomes more clear how our thoughts and intents really do define our choices, actions, and ultimately devotion to Him.

So a question or invitation to each of you this week. Take time to ponder this question posed by the Savior, What think ye of Christ? When and where, why and how do you think of Him. Mama and I see Him in each of you so clearly. What a blessing that is to you and to us. Keep seeking after Him. He is easy to find in everything you do if you are earnestly looking for Him.

I love you all so very much! Have a great week!
