 30- the Law of Chastity 8/21/23

Hello Family,


One of my favorite parts in recent changes to the temple endowment presentation is the explanation that sacred ordinances are given by the Lord through revelation, therefore they are best understood by revelation. Meaning personal revelation! Each time we go to the Temple with the attitude of learning, we are taught “line upon line, here a little and there a little”,  and the plan of our Heavenly Father becomes more clear to our minds and hearts.


This week while in the temple I had one of those learning moments regarding the law of chastity. I have always known the importance of keeping ourselves clean and pure. Not only does this allow for the Holy Ghost to be with us, but it shows reverence and respect for our own bodies and the bodies of all our Heavenly Father’s children. It is clear that the adversary tries to influence the world in hopes to diminish and destroy this sacred law. In varying degrees we have all seen the detrimental effects on individuals and families when this law has not been kept. 


As we strive to prepare ourselves during this life to return to our Heavenly Father’s presence, we grown and develop and learn to keep His laws more fully. Of all the degrees of glory prepared for His children, only in the highest degree of the Celestial Kingdom is eternal life realized. While almost all of His children will receive salvation and immortality, only those tested and proven worthy of living a higher law (the law of chastity being one of those higher laws) with qualify for exaltation and eternal life. This we know is where eternal families are united, and where the sacred power of procreation continues to exist. 


The greatest blessings in store for us now and in eternity center around the joy and happiness family brings us. The blessing pronounced upon Abraham was that his posterity would be greater than the sands of the sea. These blessings in large part stem from obedience to and reverence for our bodies and keeping the law of chastity. This law governs the ability to realize what our Heavenly Father has designed for our happiness, children. This law is so much more than only “having eyes” for our spouse. It is preparing ourselves to live as eternal families in the presence of God. Stepping back and looking at the entirety of the Plan of Salvation, isn’t it amazing what this one law governs, and to see its importance. I am very thankful for the law of chastity. I’m thankful for the blessings obedience to this law provides me and our family here in mortality, and grateful to a loving Heavenly Father for the hope it provides all of us in the life to come.

  • Think about how we reverence and keep the law of chastity by what we choose to wear, the jokes we tell or listen to, the movies and books we choose to watch or read, the social media platforms we choose spend our time on, or the websites we choose to visit. 
  • Let us each commit to continue to strive to keep the law of chastity more fully in our individual lives.

 Hello Family, Happy New Year! It is New Year’s Eve, and we are gathered all together in Ogden, Utah. What a treat to be all together! As Lainey would say, “I love you guys!” This weekend I have watched each of you set time aside to plan and to make New Year’s Resolutions, pondering on things that you would like to add or improve in your life. I love that! A life without purpose is a life of complacency. Goals put us in a place to act, and to do. You each know who you are and what your purpose is, and this brings so much joy to Mama and I.  45 (12-4-2023) I Need Thee Every Hour Dear Family, This scripture has stayed with me over the past couple of weeks, and has helped me several times. The message has gained greater meaning for me as I try to apply it.
