 Good Morning Family,

Thank you again for taking the time and making the effort to all be together this past weekend. For mama and I it is our greatest joy when we get you all under one roof. We love each of you so so much!

I will try and keep it short today. I wanted to share just a thought or two I’ve had as I’ve studied Elder Uchtdorf’s most recent message. There were several things that stood out to me, but I’ll shre one specific thing that I’m trying to apply into my life now. That is, to step back and evaluate the things that are important to me, things I spend my time in my day doing, the things I think about, and prioritize. Then try to categorize these things into what is eternal and what isn’t. Elder Uchtdorf taught that “One of the most important things we can learn in this life is the difference between what is eternal and what is not. Once we understand that, everything changes—our relationships, the choices we make, the way we treat people.” He testified that … “Knowing what is eternal and what is not is key to growing a testimony of Jesus Christ and His Church.”

Often times it is easy for me to get distracted in “lesser things”, or to form habits that prevent the Holy Ghost leading me into becoming the best version of myself. Honest self evaluation, at a time when I feel close to the Spirit, helps me get back on track. I appreciated this teaching being reiterated by Elder Uchtdorf.

Invitation:  Listen to and study the talk given from Elder Uchtdorf this past conference: Nourish the Roots, and the Branches Will Grow.  It is such a great message for all of us to focus on the Savior.

Find a quiet moment to evaluate how you are spending your time each day and week. Prayerfully consider how more of our day can be spent on “eternal things”.

I love the scriptures that were shared in his talk relating to things of eternal significance being things most worthy of our focus.“Heaven and earth shall pass away,” Jesus said, “but my words shall not pass away.”“The mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the Lord.”

I am so grateful for living prophets and apostles. Their messages give me so much strength and direction in my day to day. I’m grateful all of you have developed strong faith and testimonies of your own. Continue to strengthen this faith through consistent focus on the Savior and be confident in knowing His promised blessings will continue to be yours.

I hope you have a great week! Love,

Dad
