 Hello Family,

I hope you all had a great Easter. Our day was really nice, with the Mauricio’s coming to church with us and then back to our house for an Easter Egg Hunt. Later in the evening mama spoiled us with a really nice dinner, where we had Katherine over and join us. The weather was beautiful, and it was just a really nice day to focus on the Savior, His resurrection, and the blessings of having His gospel in our lives.

This past week I studied Elder Christofferson’s conference address titled Worship. I really enjoy his talks because I think he does such a great job helping us learn how to implement or live our faith. How to apply it in everyday living.

The part of his talk that resonated with me most is the need to convert our beliefs or faith into action. Actions that allow for the process of change in our character as we strive to emulate Jesus Christ. Elder Christofferson called them the actions that constitute our worship.

As we exercise our faith, putting it into action, it isn’t the mere action that helps us become more Christlike, but the intent in which we do the action. We’ve all prayed, studied our scriptures, offered a helping hand, or whatever it be, by just going through the motions. Doing it out of routine, or checking the box for the day type of worship. But obviously there is a higher, holier way.

I love the distinction the Savior makes  “He that receiveth my law and doeth it, the same is my disciple; and he that saith he receiveth it and doeth it not, the same is not my disciple…(Doctrine & Covenants 41:5)

To receive means to seek to know and understand the true intention or purpose in our hearts and minds. Then to do it. To act.

Invitation:

My invitation this week is for us to consider the things we “do” in our daily and weekly worship, and ask why? What is the Holy Ghost teaching us regarding the true intent of the “law” given?

Prayer

Scripture study

Ministering

Magnifying our calling

Taking the Sacrament

Worshiping in the Temple

These are a few of the “laws” given. As we consider our own personal discipleship, have we “received” first, and then incorporated the action? If not, let us seek for the why. I know that through the Holy Ghost we will better understand His purposes, which will in turn bless our lives.

I love you all very much, and hope you have a great week!

Dad
